The Eye-Opening Wisdom of 3 Animals that can be used as a Reference for Business

"What the hell is innovation?"

"The word derives from the fact that the rawhides of live animals are removed, dried for a long time, polished and used again as useful hides."

"How terrifying means"

“Innovation is such a tragic and scary word.”

“Freedom comes with strict responsibility and with thorough performances.”

"Companies like Silicon Valley's Google are free to act, but take responsibility for their performance."

"A free job, a knowledge nomad, a nice horse, but not a very easy-going opponent."

"If you don't have weapons such as unique skills, differentiated content, and expertise, it's better to just wear a tie"

"Your life can be changed with a single attack from the enemy"

“Many companies and leaders ignore the pain of innovation and imitate it.”

The word 'innovation' pursued by many IT companies is derived from the act of skinning animals, so maybe humans and animals are more closely connected than you think.

Today, I would like to summarize some of the animal-related information that I have come across so far that can be used as a business reference.

1. Survive like a crocodile.

[caption id="attachment_4775" align="aligncenter" width="357"]Animals Crocodile[/caption]

Crocodiles are known to be the most adaptable of all living things on Earth.

Even in the period of a mass extinction when dinosaurs disappeared, crocodiles survived despite their large size.

I was quite impressed with the 'crocodile survival strategy' that Li Xiaorai, a Chinese rejection, learned in Silicon Valley.

According to Li Xiaorai, crocodiles respond to intruders by:

First of all, crocodiles are more prone to invading their territory if they are larger and of a different species.

Running away unconditionally (Flee)
If the invading object is a smaller species, it will attack and eat it. (Feed)
Also, if the invader is a crocodile of the same sex, the crocodile will fight (Fight)
If it is a heterosexual crocodile, it is said that they try to breed depending on the season. (Fuck)

Also, it is said that the crocodile does not move unless the above 4 conditions are met. (Freeze)

And Li Xiaorai called it 5F.

It can be viewed as an interpretation with a bit of humor and exaggeration, but on the other hand, I think there are some points to think about in Li Xiao-Lai's explanation.

Of course, the response method must be different depending on the situation of each person, but isn't there a point of reference for the alligator's strategy, which response differs depending on the opponent's condition?

Wouldn't it be nice to look at the crocodile's survival strategies and think ahead of time how to react depending on the target if the same situation arises for you?

2. Collaborate like ants.

[caption id="attachment_4776" align="aligncenter" width="313"]Animals Ants[/caption]

Ants are also animals that boast as great survivability as crocodiles.

However, if a crocodile has a strong sense of superstar surviving through individual excellence...

Ants are very weak if they are broken down into individual entities, but it can be seen that they survived by creating a perfect cooperative system.

So, the ant collaboration model has long been one of the interests of the humanities as well as the IT industry.

Therefore, related research and investigations are also conducted in various categories.

In particular, there are many people who are very interested in the collaborative model of ants, even among those who study artificial intelligence.

It is up to each individual to define how to define artificial intelligence, but maybe it can be said that 'good artificial intelligence is ultimately born through the collaborative process of a lot of data?

So, how do ants collaborate? Of the various approaches, what I found most interesting to me is that ants move on simple principles, but then reorganize in an instant when an emergency arises.

[caption id="attachment_4779" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Animals Ants Collaboration[/caption]

Ants communicate effectively and regularly through pheromones.

Then, when a contingency occurs, the ants throw away the old way and reorganize quickly and anew.

And some experts see this as 'Emergence' created by ants.

Emergence is a very difficult concept, but I think it can be seen as meaning to creatively create a new rule or order necessary at the moment according to the change of circumstances.

In this way, even if an unexpected situation occurs, the ants quickly reorganize their organization and then work together to solve the problem and survive.

Because of these characteristics, some argue that ants are the role models that decentralized organizations or systems should pursue.

As society is changing so rapidly these days, interest in emergent phenomena is growing as much as creativity.

You can't imitate ants, but how about paying attention to the organic survival method of ants?

3. Devote yourself like a wolf!

[caption id="attachment_4777" align="aligncenter" width="356"]Animals Wolves[/caption]

There are several instances where different animals are highlighted in terms of leadership as well as survival strategies of crocodiles and ants.

The case of the first penguin who takes a risk and jumps into the water first and the leadership of the geese have already been covered quite a bit.

Among them, I am quite interested in the existential leadership of wolves.

In particular, the devoted decisions made by the 'head wolf' called 'Alpha Male' to keep the group from moment to moment are quite moving from a human point of view.

Usually, wolves live in groups of about 10 or so...

If an internal fight breaks out during this process, there is a high risk of disintegration of the group, so Alpha Male actively intervenes to resolve the conflict.

[caption id="attachment_4778" align="aligncenter" width="344"]Animals Alpha Male[/caption]

However, at this time, the boss wolf does not forcefully subdue the members by mobilizing his strength.

Because if you suppress it with too much force, the wolf is more likely to leave the pack.

As such, the wolf leader makes very rational decisions moment by moment for the survival and maintenance of the organization.

Not only that, but boss wolves also show dedication, such as going out alone for prey in the middle of the winter, when they're most at risk.

Also, the wolves have their own rules that the entire pack must agree to when choosing their leader.

So, contrary to popular belief that the alpha male with absolute power would be egocentric, assertive, and radical, the strongest and most devoted wolf is usually the boss, and the Alpha Female continues to be confirmed.

It is easy to think that 'leadership' is created according to position or title, but...

“True strength does not come from ‘the sharpness of the spear’ but comes from protecting others with my shield”(Simon Sinek)

Maybe true leadership is created according to how much you dedicate yourself to the development or existence of a community or organization?

"Leaders, by their dedication to the organization, become far greater than they can achieve as a single individual."

"When a group recognizes their great leader"

“Great leaders build great groups and make an effort that will go down in history.”
(Warren Bennis)
