6 Commons Between Content Creation and Fishing

Fishing as in content creation is a subjective term to bait the viewers into this vortex which is impossible to resist.

Whether you know how to 'Fish' or you have a 'Bait' which is difficult to resist. However, the main goal is to trap the 'Fish'.

“Persuasion is the power of one person to convince another person of something.”

“So persuasion is an action that one inflicts on another person unilaterally.”

“However, influence, unlike persuasion, refers to the ability to change the thoughts, beliefs, and actions of others.”

“So you can say that influence is the power that other people think of me and the power that implants me in other people’s hearts.”

“So if persuasion is ‘hunting’ to find a target,”

“Influence can be said to be ‘fishing’ that makes targets come to me”
(Chris Weidner)

Some experts liken it to fishing.

Of course, in reality, when the act of fishing and content are combined, it is more negatively portrayed than this romantic approach.

Nevertheless, today, I will unravel my thoughts on some commonalities between content creation and fishing.

1. Choose the bait well.

There are many different types of baits, such as earthworms, shrimp, anchovies, etc.

And the reason why there are so many different baits is that each fish responds differently to the bait.

For example, some fish like earthworms, and some fish prefer shrimp.

So, if you want to catch fish, you basically need to know what kind of bait the fish you want to catch likes. It's very basic of basics.

I don't think content creation is much different!

Of course, things like the fate of people liking the content I started making. Because I like it happens sometimes, but in many cases, in order to get people’s reactions, basically, you need to constantly observe what people like and react to and use the appropriate items. must be chosen well.

In particular, when selecting an item, it is important to know what humans like in general or universally, but it is equally important to know what items are particularly appealing to the target audience like real fishing. Dey

In content creation, it is important to throw a suitable bait that people will respond to, and it is especially important to find an item that people you are targeting will respond to.

And it's usually called 'item planning' on the content production side.

“The power of content comes from the real needs and grievances of the target audience”

“So you always have to think about it.”

“What challenges do your target readers face?”

“What keeps them from sleeping?”

“If readers focus 100% on the reasons why they can’t sleep, the content will be unconditionally successful”

(Content Business Specialist, Joe Pulizi)

2. You need to know where is a good fishing ground

However, unfortunately, just because the bait is well selected does not necessarily mean that the fish can be caught well.

To catch a fish, you basically have to throw your rod where there are fish, preferably where there are a lot of fish.

That way you're more likely to catch fish. And the places where such fish can be caught are often called 'points' by anglers.

I also think that there are many similarities to content creation.

No matter how well the items are selected and the content is amazingly well-made, if the content is not sprinkled on 'good points', the effect will be halved.

So I think that content creators need to think seriously about where to fish, at what point or on what platform, as well as choosing a good bait.

3. You must also aim well for water scales. As with many things in the world, timing is important in fishing.

So, it is often said that to make fishing easier there are three things needed. These things are the point, the tide, the weather.

Regardless of genre, when choosing items from numerous fields, one of the most important items is 'timeliness' because they believe that the right time is the best timing.

Also, if you look at creators who make content targeting teenagers these days, they sometimes publish content at the time when subscribers are most comfortable viewing content, that is, when they go home after school.

Also, quite a few social marketers are busy researching to find the most efficient time to publish.

Couldn't this series of actions be seen as aiming for good timing like anglers do?

4. Until you pick it up

I don't know if it's a big fish or not. So always do your best

And another common point between fishing and content production. I think, is that even if you have a sense of 'Wow, this is a jackpot'. No one can guarantee the outcome until you get it completely out of the way.

Even if you find a hit item, you may not get good results in the end because of your impatience.

In some cases, unexpectedly great results are achieved.

As such, 'uncertainty' exists in both fishing and content production.

So because you never know when or how things will go well, doing your best at everything is often the only best thing to do.

5. You must be able to keep throwing even if you fail.

When fishing, there are times when only the bait is removed, sometimes you miss the fish you have caught right in front of you, and sometimes you upload starfish or floats instead of fish.

So what do anglers do?

Usually, I don't really care and throw the rod again and again.

In this way, fishing is not a fight of the probability of catching a few times by throwing it, but a battle of persistence in which you keep throwing until you are caught.

I don't think content creation is much different.

Of course, it can come out easily with one great project or good opportunity. But in many cases, it fails, there is no response, or hears more that it is no joke. Nevertheless, you should be able to throw your content to the world over and over again.

6. You must know how to wait.

When people talk about the charm of fishing, they often talk about the aesthetics of waiting.

As mentioned before, it is important to keep throwing the fishing rod. But waiting for it to be caught is equally important in fishing.

There are times when you can't just stand still if you hastily put the fishing rod in and out repeatedly, or move the points around unnecessarily.

So when you wait, you need the courage to wait.

Maybe content creation is similar? Most of the people who jumped into content creation out of hasty heart only with passion, give up halfway through for various reasons, such as 'I have no talent'.

So, if you look around, there are not many cases where you have been doing it consistently for more than a year.

By the way! We have to wait a long time to catch a fish, but can it be easy and fast to captivate people with content?

“It’s easy to get into the ring, but it’s not easy to stay there for long”

“(Actually) it’s not that difficult to write a novel or two”

“However, writing novels for a long time and continuously, making a living with novels, and surviving as a novelist is extremely difficult.”

“For that reason, I have an unwavering admiration for writers who continue to write novels without ever getting tired of them.”

(Haruki Murakami)

Perhaps it is a noble thing to be enduring the wait?
